Rodrigues is 18 km end to end and almost all of it is ridge, coast or lagoon — so the walking here is short, steep and almost always in the open. These are the trails we actually send people on, with the climb, the ground underfoot and the shade written down rather than guessed.

A tough inland trek via Quatre Vents, Citron Donis and Anse Baleine — much is off-trail through dense vegetation with aggressive mosquitoes, but the final descent to Anse Baleine is sublime. Difficult · bring repellent, water and good shoes.

Varied landscapes via Anse aux Anglais, Port Mathurin, Mont Lubin and Mont Limon — coastline and palms, then tropical forest (bring mosquito repellent), then beautiful mountain viewpoints at Mont Limon. Difficult · one-way.
